Putting Prayers To Action

Recently I was pointed to a ministry in Kentucky that works to help very low income families in Appalachia provide clothing, toys, school supplies for their children.  After doing some investigating, I have joined in, and am presenting the ministry to you for your consideration.

Putting Prayers To Action is based in Soldad, Kentucky.  It's run by Brian and Tina Decker, and is a non-profit.

A little from their "About Me" page:

Putting Prayers to Action is a  501c3 non-profit organization focused on sharing God’s love in the Appalachian mountains by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of children and their families. We are committed to changing the world, one life at a time, with mercy, love, and grace through Christ Jesus, Our Lord. We serve over 3,200 children and their families throughout the Appalachian region. God allows us to provide the essentials while sharing the gospel and our faith.

Bryan and Tina Decker are the founders and directors of Putting Prayers to Action, LLC.  They have two sons; Trace and Brennen.  Bryan and Tina have been married since 1989 and God called them into ministry together in 2007. Putting Prayers to Action is a family ministry....

As God molded our testimony into the ministry it is today, we realized that He allowed us to go through the struggles so we could empathize with the families.

God has allowed us many years of building relationships with our families and our children. I value and treasure each one. Life in the mountains is hard.  Many of our families have no running water or electricity. Many of our children are sick due to poor nutrition and poor water conditions. God has placed a deep love and passion for His mountain people in our hearts.  We love our Appalachian children and our families with a protective love and passion that can only come from the Father.

I've chatted with people involved in this ministry and have joined in as a sewing partner for the older, larger children mostly.  These older teens are often overlooked as gifts are often sent for younger children.

Each clothing packet includes a gospel tract along with items to fulfill a physical need.  If you have a talent for sewing, crochet, knitting, etc, or enjoy shopping for clothing, you can use your gifts with PPTA to give the gospel and create items that will be enjoyed by those who truly need them.
